Dr. Nelson Eddy
Dr. Nelson Eddy is a distinguished periodontist with a rich history in the field of dentistry. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and earned his dental degree from Ohio State University College of Dentistry. After completing his General Practice Residency at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia, South Carolina, he specialized in periodontics at the Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Eddy began his periodontics practice in Rock Hill in September 1992.
Professional Affiliations and Continuing Education
Dr. Eddy is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and a member of several esteemed dental organizations, including the American Academy of Periodontology, American Dental Association, Academy of Osteointegration, ITI, American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, and the North and South Carolina Society of Periodontists. He is actively involved in numerous local, state, and national dental study clubs, participating in over 100 hours of continuing education each year.

Dr. Eddy's practice is renowned for its personalized approach to patient care, collaborating with referring dentists and specialists to meet each patient’s specific needs. He stays abreast of the latest dental advancements through peer-reviewed journals and continuous education, employing state-of-the-art technologies such as EMS airflow units, PerioView perioscope, digital impressions, 3D printing, and cone beam scans. His special interests include biofilm technology, digital dentistry, and the application of platelet-rich fibrin for tissue regeneration.

Dr. Eddy acknowledges the challenges posed by insurance companies in dictating treatment and advocates for patient-centered care. He is dedicated to community service, participating in York County Partners for Free Dentistry and working with Affinity Health Center to develop a General Practice Residency program.
Personal Life
Married to his wife, Trisha, for over 30 years, Dr. Eddy is the proud father of four children, including Dr. Joseph Eddy, who joined the practice in 2024. The Eddy family enjoys coastal vacations, snow skiing, attending dental education meetings, and supporting University of South Carolina sports.
